A lot of people think that teachers need to love their students, that they need to have an expert knowledge of their subjects, and that they should devote themselves completely to their jobs. All of these ideas are, of course, true to a certain degree but they are perhaps a little too simple.
It is impossible for anyone to love everyone they know, and teachers deal with a great large number of students over the years. On the other hand, teachers should certainly be able to make their students feel that they are concerned. A deep knowledge of the subject is extremely important, but equally important is the ability to pass that knowledge on to the students effectively a teacher needs to be trained in the skills of teaching. Finally, teachers have to devote a lot of time and energy to their work, of course. However, they are also models that their students must follow; so it is important that they should be well-balanced people with interests outside their school work. A teacher who only lives for work is likely to become too narrow-minded.

Ladies and gentlemen,
Its my honor to have the chance to speak here.
Most people think a teacher should love his students, have an expert knowledge and devote himself to the job. The ideas are partly true.
In my opinion, a good teacher should love his students. However, its impossible for a teacher to love his every student. Besides, for a teacher, the ability to pass the knowledge on to his students is more important than his expert knowledge. A good teacher should be ready to teach the students how to learn rather than what to learn. Moreover, not only should he work hard, but also he should be a well-balanced person.
My English teacher, Miss Wang always helps us out and is concerned about us. And also, he remains young psychologically and tries hard to understand his students. She often stays with us and shares with us her experiences. She amuses us by telling jokes in class at times, which makes us learn English in a relaxed phenomenon. In addition, She keeps upgrading her knowledge and takes every chance to study.
All in all,she is a worthy teacher. I like her very much.
Thats all. Thank you.

Years ago it was very difficult to travel from one place to another. The journeys were often long, tiring and dangerous. Today the picture has changed. Science has improved transportation and communication facilities a great deal. Traveling has become safer, more enjoyable and above all, more economical.
Travelingwhether within ones country or abroadbrings many invaluable benefits. People travel for pleasure, business or for education and knowledge. In the world of yesterday most people were only able to read about strange and fascinating places across the mountains and seas. Later, with the coming of the cinema and television, mans curiosity about faraway places with strange sounding names was further stirred up. Today mans curiosity can be satisfied in luxurious comfort. There are first-class ships and airplanes to take him where his dreams lie.
We travel to increase our knowledge of the world in which we live. Knowledge obtained from books alone is not enough. New knowledge of different lands and peoples enrich our mind and soul. Books generally do not give us a very true picture of lands beyond our shores. Some of them are even misleading.

On Modern Transportation
With the help of science, transportation makes traveling safer and easier, which brings lots of benefits like satisfying mans curiosity and increasing mans knowledge of the world.
I cant agree more. As the legend goes:To carry the news of the Greek victory,Pheidippides,a professional runner, had to run 42 kilometers without stopping. He dropped dead of exhaustion after shouting,Rejoice, we conquer! That happened in 490BC,but now its easy for us to cover this distance by car. With the help of modern transportation, we can go everywhere we prefer to. Even the journey to outer space is not a dream any more.
Despite the obvious advantages of modern transportation,it has also created many negative effects such as air pollution, traffic jams and lack of energy. To solve the problems,in my mind, there are two ways. On one hand, rules should be made for drivers to follow. On the other hand,if possible, wed better use bicycles instead of cars to save energy as well as easing traffic jams.

I was brought up in the countryside by my grandmother. She was a very courageous and inspiring woman and was very beautiful, too. In comparison with her or some of my classmates, I always felt that I was not beautiful or pretty. In fact, when I was studying in middle school, I thought I was ugly and just because of these negative feelings I was not very confident. I often felt self-conscious. One day when I was walking with my grandmother after lunch, we met one of her friends. We talked for a few minutes. Just as my grandmothers friend was about to leave, she turned to me and said, Xiao Wen, you look so beautiful today in that green dress.
No one had ever made a comment like that to me before. It was so encouraging. Suddenly I felt confident and happy. I couldnt believe that someone described me as beautiful. It is true that those words turned my life around. And I admit that I treasured that green dress for a long time.

Praise can change a person
The writer was once praised by one of her grandmothers friends for her beautiful green dress. This praise not only made her happy but also changed her attitude towards herself.
Praise is really magical. Perhaps many of us had such experience. Take myself as an example. I was very naughty in the primary school. Most of the teachers and even my parents felt headache of me. But it happened that I once got a very high mark in an examination and the headteacher reported this to my parents. My parents praised me crazily for this for quite a long time and told neighbours about that. I felt really happy and became polite to others. Every time when I heard others talk to me about my excellent examination result, I thought to myself that I would work even harder and made greater progress.
Just as Shakespeare said,Our praises are our wages。
