globe是地球儀，在前面加上一個定冠詞，變成the globe意思就成了the world，所以如果要表達我們向全世界出口就可以說成We export our goods all over the globe.
Global是形容詞，意思是全球的，globally就是副詞全球地，在此基礎上加名詞后綴-ation，變成globalization意思就是全球化。這個詞在下文出現(xiàn)，這里一并解釋。

stamp做名詞是郵票的意思，大家都很熟悉；另外，它還有印記、痕跡的意思，所以用作動詞時，它可以指踩踏，比如一位小姐看到了蟑螂，就會出現(xiàn)下面這種情況：
Marta shrieked and started stamping on the cockroach.
Marta尖叫著開始踩踏那只蟑螂。
Out這個詞，向來都表示沒了、滅了之類的意思，比如sold out賣光了，run out of用光了。
所以，stamp out和起來，意思就可以理解為踩滅、撲滅，當然，對象不僅限于大火之類的，還可以指災病一類可以蔓延的東西，比如這次的SARS.下面這個人在談到今年的經(jīng)濟問題時就使用了這個短語，他說：

再來看一個例子：
He spent very little time at school, perhaps no more than a year in all.
他在學校學習的時間很短，可能總共還不到一年。
有一個和no more than很相近的說法，not more than的意思是不多于，試比較：
There were not more than 2000 people in the hall.
大廳里的人數(shù)不超過2000人。
There were no more than 20 people that the hall was almost empty.
大廳里只有20人，幾乎是空的。
