It was very dark in the room. 女主人剛摸到蠟燭和火柴,門外便傳來了“篤篤”的敲門聲。 Somebody knocked at the door as soon as the hostess touched the candle and match. 打開門一看,原來是一個小男孩,他仰著臉,背著手,“阿姨,你家有蠟燭嗎?” Opening the door, she found that it was a boy, who looked up with his hands behind his back, asking, “Aunt, do you have candles?” 怎么,我剛搬來第一天鄰家就支使孩子來借東西,這不是欺負新來的嗎?今天借給他家蠟燭,說不定明天又來借蔥、借姜、借蒜,不,不行!女主人便說:“哎呀,真不巧,阿姨剛搬來,沒準備蠟燭。”說完她就準備關門。 How it could be that I moved her just one day, some neighbour ordered about the child to borrow things, wasn’t that to bully the newcomer? Today, I lent you a candle, maybe tomorrow you would come here to brorrow onions, gingers and garlics, no, no! The hostess then replied, “ah, unfortunately, I just moved here, and don’t prepare candles.” With that, she got ready to close the door. “阿姨,你看,我媽媽讓我送來的。”小男孩變戲法似的從背后抽出手,高高地舉起兩根粗粗的蠟燭。 “Aunt, look, my mum asked me send you.” The little boy moved his hands forward and held up highly two thick candles, seeming to perform a conjuring trick. 面對孩子清瑩的眼睛,女主人一下驚呆了,繼而無力地倚著門,雙手捂面,不敢與孩子對視…… Facing the child’s clear and glistening eyes, the hostess was stupefied, leaning on the door feebly and holding her face with two hands, afraid to look him in the eye….
