　　club, association, institute, league, union, society

　　這些名詞均有社團，會社，協會之意。

　　club : 表俱樂部或會社，其成員因志同道合，有共同興趣、愛好而組織到一起進行社交、娛樂或體育等活動。

　　He set up a tennis club.(他籌建了一個網球俱樂部。)

　　association : 指較為正式的組織，強調興趣和需要的一致性。

　　The association is/are having its/their annual conference next week.(該協會在下個星期舉行年度會議。)

　　institute : 指為專門的目標而建立的學會或研究所。

　　I visited a number of scientific institutes in Asia.(我訪問了亞洲的許多科學協會。)

　　league : 指為了共同的目的和利益而組成的社團、同盟或聯合會。

　　Leagues are commonly made for mutual defence.

　　union : 多指工會，也指學會或協會。

　　The Student Union is/are holding election today.

　　society : 可與association換用，但前者的宗旨更嚴格，會員之間聯系更緊密，活動更積極。
