  句型提煉:as用作連詞,意為“像……一樣”。

  句型提煉:本句是復合句,when引導時間狀語從句,主句中的主干是I saw streets,而as they had been用作方式狀語,介詞短語with stepping stones along the road是streets的定語,連詞so后接結果狀語從句。

  句型提煉:本句是復合句,it是形式主語,真正的主語是由that引導的主語從句。分詞短語leaving empty spaces in the ash充當結果狀語。

  句型提煉:本句是復合句。分詞短語finding victory wherever he went作伴隨狀語,其中的wherever he went是地點狀語從句。

  1.remain link-v. 保持,依舊

  1)用作系動詞,指某人或某事物仍保持某種狀態,意為“仍然是,依舊是”,后面可接名詞、代詞、形容詞、介詞短語、分詞作表語。

  2)用作不及物動詞,意思是“剩下,余留,留待”,此時不能用進行時態,也沒有被動語態。

  3)指某事“尚待、有待于以后被處置”,后面常接不定式的被動形式,表示主語是不定式的承受者。

  4)remain作名詞時,表示“剩余物”,一般用其復數形式。

  5)remaining是形容詞,意為“剩余的”,常作前置定語;而left則只能作后置定語。

  ①Peter became a manager,but Jack remained a worker.

  彼得成為一個經理,而杰克仍然是個工人。

  ②Whatever achievements you've made,you should remain modest.

  無論你取得多么大的成就,你都該保持謙虛。

  ③He had to remain in hospital until he was better.

  他不得不一直住院直到身體稍好些。

  ④The guests came in,but she remained sitting at the desk reading.

  客人們都來了,但她還坐在寫字臺旁讀書。

  ⑤It remains to be seen whether you are right.

  ⑥The archeologists found some remains of the Song Dynasty.

  用法辨析stay與remain

  1.作系動詞,指某人或某物“繼續保持某一狀態(continue to be)”時,常可互換。

  2.表示主語“暫時停留在某處”時,兩者可以互換。

  3.表示在某處住(若干天),常用stay。

  4.當表示別人已離去或事情有變動后,某人或某物仍保持原來的狀態時,多用remain。

  ①They remain/stay friends for many years.

  他們的友誼持續了許多年。

  ②The shop stays/remains open till night.

  這家店鋪一直營業到晚上。

  ③Stay/Remain here until I come back.

  一直待在這里,直到我回來。

  易混辨析

  易混詞 辨析

  declare 意為“宣布,宣告”,指正式就某事公開地作出明確的說明,其后可接名詞、從句、復合結構,表明態度時加介詞for(贊成)或against(反對)。

  announce 意為“宣布,宣稱”,指首次宣布人們所關心的事,有預告的含義,通常是關于生死、結婚、災害信息或客人的到來等,其后常接名詞、從句作賓語。

  claim 意為“聲稱,依據(權利)獲得、認領,奪取(生命)”。

  ①I declare this conference open.我宣布本次會議開始。

  ②They announced that a cold wave would come soon.他們報告說不久寒流就要來。
